The Grit City Podcast

Business, community, and entertainment podcast. Casual talk from the Pacific Northwest. Hosted from beautiful Tacoma, Washington!
The Grit City Podcast is a weekly podcast, hosted by four friends in Tacoma, WA. - Affectionately called "Grit City" by people who know and love it. Every Monday we release an episode highlighting business owners, entrepreneurs, authors, artists, and unique characters we run into. Most often these are people that we feel personify the blue collar, hard work ethic people associate with “Grit”. Sometimes it's a drug-fueled weirdo that we just met, drunk at a comedy club the night before. No matter what or who we are recording we want you to feel like you're hanging out with friends and taking part in a community of unique and interesting people. The Grit City Podcast was launched during the summer of 2014 and had over 120 episodes between 2014 and 2017. The founders and original hosts are technology workers who met on the job and bonded over common interests. After a short hiatus at the end of 2017, The Grit City Podcast rebooted in 2018 with more friends and family involved. GCP's goal is to become the "Must Listen To" podcast around Tacoma/Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, with a fan base of people around the world. People who identify with "Grit" and understand that the reputation is real. We would love to hear how you found us. Get in touch here (/contact/) or: info@gritcitypodcast.com Looking for a way to support the show? This podcast titled “Letters From Home” is seeking to bring audio letters of encouragement from heaven’s doorstep to yours. These real life stories are filled with pain, loss, hope, joy and inspiration...and always....the presence of a loving God there with us through it all.

You, Me, Us, Now

I started this podcast in 2014 because I wanted to highlight people I met when I was Mayor of Seattle. I hoped that hearing stories from people on the front lines of social change - how they got started, what they cared about - would inspire others to take action. This spring I was the person deciding to take action - I've entered the race for Seattle Mayor. So the podcast has a new twist - It's You, Me, Us, Now - Campaign Edition. Joined by the inimitable Hanna Brooks Olsen, we will take a look behind the scenes of a campaign. She'll ask me not just about the issues, but about how campaigns work, and how it feels to be a candidate. If you want a closer look at what it's like to run for office, sign up and follow along. A little background - the title is derived from the teachings of Marshall Ganz. Change ultimately comes from people sharing their stories to build a shared narrative of the world they want to see. I hope you'll join me in this campaign, check out some of the prior shows, and get involved yourself in trying to change things for the better.
